The world today is just so full of pride, negativity and selfishness. It’s so toxic that many get confused equating fame and riches to happiness. It can be… but I believe that real joy is grounded in a life that’s pure, noble and contented.
So how can we focus on living in bliss?
1. Live life not for people but for yourself!
Live for your ideals and beliefs founded in the Bible. People will have their own judgments and expectations and you fitting your life towards their acceptance is tiring and fake. You would end up living someone else’s life.
Go for your own dreams! Live your very calling and destiny. For me, it is living for Jesus and the roles He placed in my life through the seasons and nothing else. If people will have issues with it, they can deal with it in God but I won’t allow their reasoning to dictate my future and joy.
Now there should also be a balance to this by submitting to authority and keeping accountability. But I think you understand by what I mean. In general, we are meant to live the very pursuits of our hearts and not match on the drumroll of worldly pressures.
2. Choose simplicity.
Less is more. You don’t need all the things that the god of this age through television and social media allure you to have. You don’t need to put on a persona you’re not just to cope with lifestyle the devil is spotlighting. Know what’s your core values and live from that. Choose to live in the things that you only need. Don’t waste years of your life trying to chase a life of fantasy. There is joy in keeping life simple.
3. Embrace Peace.
Jesus in the Bible said, “Blessed are the peacemakers…,” (Matthew 5:9). So don’t squander your precious time in eternity giving in to bitterness, grudges, unforgiveness, deceit, lying, pride, envy, anger and pain. Strive to live a peaceful life. I don’t only mean setting up a tranquil environment with your essential oils, Himalayan rock salt lamps, rain sounds, and the like. These are good but real calmness in life is a state of the heart before a loving God. Getting your life right not for the sake of fear and religion, but because of a loving relationship.
4. Focus Only on What Matters
I don’t know if you are like me few years ago… I based my identity and security in people’s applause. Titles and work affirmed me so I felt needed to do more to have people’s smiles.
Thank God for changing me. Now I know that I am loved even if I don’t have to put a lot in my plate. This freedom has allowed me to focus only on things that matter. I find joy in being a wife, mother… being there for people, being a blessing in my little ways.
5. Be grateful
Each time we focus on God’s goodness despite facing difficult crisis, we push down discouragements and hope is anchored in our hearts. It then change our perception of things and widens our horizon. So always stay thankful. Even if you’re facing a difficult circumstance and in the midst of a very depressing situation, look for just even one that you’re thankful with and the rest will change afterwards.
Know that God is sovereign and loving. He sees all and He already gave His all so we can enjoy life. Rest and trust Him.
Why choose negativity when we have options to live fulfilled in joy. Decide to be happy today. Make some wise choices how you can make the most of life… happily.
