The Opposing Kingdoms
There are only two kingdoms existing in this world. The moment Lucifer revolted and fell from heaven, it has always been a battle of the good and evil… righteousness and unrighteousness, God and the devil. Man is the centre of this battle. God loves man so much that He made him according to His likeness and created him a world to govern. He literally gave His life to him. All in the hope that man will love Him back. Man is His joy and delight.
The devil knows this. And since he’s against God and has no capacity to overpower Him no matter how hard he tries, he found a way to indirectly hurt His heart. It is to take the one He loves with him in hell. What else is more tragic than seeing the one you love choose to suffer with your enemy in the prison you made… This is the only mandate Satan has now after he was defeated 2000 years ago.
The Will of Man
The bottom line of all this is who will eventually own man’s soul in eternity. Man suffering with Satan in hell or man enjoying eternal life with God in heaven. These two forces can’t do anything unless man gives in, unless man sides with one by the CHOICES he makes. The will of man is such a powerful force in this realm of existence. Satan desires for it, God respects it. Heaven and hell is determined by this little decision-making authority.
Beware of the Decisions we Make
Most of us will say we want to go to heaven, but the choices we make tell that we don’t…
Action speaks louder than words as many often say. But God does not only look at the actions as the product of our choices but He looks at the heart. Because we can be saying we love the Lord and we’re genuine Christians but deep within, our hearts are full of lust and hatred. The heart matters most.
However, I truly believe that many Filipinos do fear the Lord in their deepest souls. The only sad thing is, we oftentimes give in to sin especially when everyone is doing it, to be accepted, to look cool, to belong, or to give in to the cravings of our flesh. For example:
- We use slang and “bad” words like f*** y**, s**t, bad **s, we got from movies or in social media just so we sound cool.
- We watch whatever (movie) that’s talked about and is trending so we can join conversations and show to our friends that we’re not left out. May it mean horror movies, bold, etc.
- We sing and post YouTube videos of songs from Hollywood even if it has cuss words, curses, or shows nudity with the same mentioned reasons…
We’re not aware however that our quest for attention and belongingness are already fed with evil suggestions to lure us into profanity, lust, fear, anger and deeper bondage. Because once we expose ourselves with these ungodly things, we are actually opening our beings to welcome Satan’s chains. And one action will lead to another. Before we know it, we’re already trapped in the enemy’s yoke.
To be more specific don’t tell me that after watching “The Conjuring”, you slept peacefully at night and did not at all suffer with being taunted with “your imaginations” for the next week. We’re not aware that these are the devil’s tools to acquaint ourselves with demonic manifestations. Don’t tell me that after watching watching Miley Cyrus’ nude music video, your standards for modestly was not affected. Don’t tell me that after watching Wally Bayola and Chito Miranda’s sex video scandals, you did not suffer with lust and pornographic images in your mind that may lead to masturbation and premarital sex with your boyfriend/girlfriend. Admit it or not, the world that we live in today offers a lot of temptations. The devil is using “fun” to captivate our souls. Thus, we need to be careful on what we listen to, what we sing, what we watch, read and meditate. Our senses are the windows to our humanity. Whatever we feed our beings with, is who we become eventually.
Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. – Proverbs 4:14-15,23-27
I long for only one thing — to see a generation of Filipinos intimate with God with their hearts broken for the lost. The devil is doing its best to prolong this dream be a reality. I am determined however to fight because I know whose side I am (Jesus’, the Victorious’ side). Thus it is my prayer that you and I will be wise all the time to see the evil suggestions around us especially through social media, movies, songs, books, billboards, TV… and not give in to it at all! Keep a clean heart through a clean conscience before the Lord. Be founded in the Word and surround yourself with strong believers in the Kingdom. Above all, pray… Pray for protection and guidance. That we will always abide in His presence today until eternity. 🙂
