When our first dog Champ died last year, we were heart broken. I was with him from birth up to his 2 years of life. Yes, literally from birth because I was his mom’s midwife at delivery and their nanny growing up. When I got married, Hubby did not just have a wife but also a dog. We treated him as our firstborn.
But after that 36 degrees Celsius afternoon hit Davao in summer of 2012, Champ was no more. We woke up and found him not breathing anymore. Our closest guess to the cause of his death is heat stroke. It was one sad day in our lives.
However, few weeks after, we found out that we were pregnant to twins! What can be more exciting right? Life and joy came back and to our surprise, Papa also gave us another “Champ”, his brother — Punch! The Baileys gave him to us and we were so happy! The twins and Punch (oppps! I forgot Bahaghari, our rabbit)… we are one happy family.
But few weeks ago Punch started losing hair. Rosy, Punch’s mom has an issue in her blood and most her puppies got it. I knew it right from the start because remember I was their nanny? The vet mentioned it before that they needed shots monthly to kill the disease or else Punch will lose hair and grow weak welcoming other sicknesses. We already made measure to cure Punch but this situation taught me something.
- DO NOT BE EQUALLY YOKE WITH UNBELIEVER – You see Punch’s dad came from a royal pedigree of dogs. He is a prince so to speak. His name is Manny (named after Manny Pacquiao, the boxer . And Manny’s dad? He just happened to be the dog who always wins dogs shows in the city. He is the dog. The king of dogs. The winner. And he’s Punch’s grandpa.
Manny is from a pedigree of greatness. But his union with Rosy changed everything.
Not that I am not against Rosy. She is such a sweet dog. I love her! But it’s just that she has this blood disease. The result? Their puppies also got it. If Manny only “married” another dog with good pedigree, it would have been a different story. A better one.
- OUR CHOICES AFFECTS THE NEXT GENERATION – Manny had no choice because he’s a dog. There’s a hot Rosy in the same house he’s living so of course, it is understandable that she’s automatically his’. But let’s just say Manny is a man and he has a choice. Yes him and Rosy live happy. They giggle, play, eat and do things together. But what they don’t see is their kids also got Rosy’s sickness. If Manny only made a wiser choice right?
But isn’t it that there’s a lot of Manny in Jesus’ church today? Compromising in their relationships not knowing what the effects are in the coming years? “Oh, he will received Jesus later on,” “Nah, I am the man, I will bring her to church!” I beg you friend, please don’t produce another Punch…
- NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD – You see we tried everything in our own might to bring back Punch complete health. He has Alpo mixed in his Vitality food every meal. He has vitamins. He uses expensive soaps. Hubby even bought the “horse shampoo” thing known to help hair loss. But is just slowed the sickness but not cure it at all. It was all on the outside and not really penetrating to where the problem is, in the blood.
What will help him is a shot. It is a medicine that kills the disease right in the blood streams. It’s true all effective changes always start inside. It’s an nside-out thing. If Punch blood is healthy, the rest of his physical features will also be the same. Blood is the lifeline of all living creatures.. It is where the battle is fought and won. It is where death and life meet. The shots we will give Punch will do that for him.
Did you know that we were all once like Rosy. Beautiful, sweet but sick. Good thing Papa gave Jesus as the shot to kill death and gave us life… And how will our Rosies be brought to life? It’s not gonna be through money, fame, good works, religion, etc. it is only through ushering them to a life in Christ. He is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. He is our cure. He is alone is the salvation of humanity. The answer to all diseases of life is only found in what Jesus shed on the cross once and for all.
It amaze me to think that everything starts in the blood and it’s also what Jesus displayed. If this is very real to dogs, how much more for every human being right? Truth the power of His blood friend. It’s where starts…
